2. Now open a Finder and navigate to Applications -> Utilities and double-click Boot Camp Assistant.

3. Click Continue on the initial Introduction screen. Ignore the fact that it doesn’t mention Windows 7 as a possible OS to install.
4.Now you have to decide how much space you want to allocate to Windows 7. You might be able to get away with going as low as 6GB, but I would highly advise against it. You’ll have almost no space left over to install software, and your page file in Windows might cause frequent crashes. I opted for 20GB, which left me with just a bit over 16GB to use after installing Windows 7.To change the amount of space to dedicate to Windows 7, click the small divider between Mac OS X and Windows, and drag it to the left.

5.Once you’ve determined how much space you want to allocate to Windows 7, click the Partition button.

6.The partitioning itself doesn’t take particularly long. If you receive an error, proceed to step 10 of the “How to install Vista with Boot Camp” tutorial. It provides all the troubleshooting info you need to resolve partitioning issues. Once you’ve cleared up any problems, or if everything just goes smoothly, proceed with the next step in this tutorial.

7.Once completed you’ll notice a new BOOTCAMP drive on your desktop.

14.Once completed, you’ll be prompted to reboot yet again.

15.Once Windows 7 boots back up again, you’ll notice the resolution is much better, and you can enable the advanced graphics features.

16.But if you check for sound, you’ll notice there are no sound drivers installed.

17.Insert your OS X Leopard DVD. When prompted, select Run setup.exe.

18.The Boot Camp installer will launch. Click Next to begin.

19.Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next again.

20.Make sure that Apple Software Update for Windows is checked, and click Install.

This guide works 100% for Vista and Windows 7, in contrast to most of the leaders there. I have many sites / blogs that you install Vista on a USB controller, but with incomplete or not Started Guide. I also have some guides that are not “the proper use of commands in this manual. After many hours I have with this guide to 100%.

I just did this method on one of my friends machine and installed the new Windows 7 BETA. The main advantage is that by using USB drive you will be able to install Windows 7/Vista in just 15 minutes. You can also use this bootable USB drive on friend’s computer who doesn’t have a DVD optical drive.

The method is very simple and you can use without any hassles. Needless to say that your motherboard should support USB Boot feature to make use of the bootable USB drive.

Requirements:

*USB Flash Drive (Minimum 4GB)

*Windows 7 or Vista installation files.

Follow the below steps to create bootable Windows 7/Vista USB drive using which you can install Windows 7/Vista easily.

1. Plug-in your USB flash drive to USB port and move all the contents from USB drive to a safe location on your system.

2. Open Command Prompt with admin rights. Use any of the below methods to open Command Prompt with admin rights.

*Type cmd in Start menu search box and hit Ctrl+ Shift+ Enter.

Or

*Go to Start menu > All programs > Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

3. You need to know about the USB drive a little bit. Type in the following commands in the command prompt:

First type DISKPART and hit enter to see the below message.

Next type LIST DISK command and note down the Disk number (ex: Disk 1) of your USB flash drive. In the below screenshot my Flash Drive Disk no is Disk 1.

4. Next type all the below commands one by one. Here I assume that your disk drive no is “Disk 1”.If you have Disk 2 as your USB flash drive then use Disk 2.Refer the above step to confirm it.

So below are the commands you need to type and execute one by one:

SELECT DISK 1

CLEAN

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

SELECT PARTITION 1

ACTIVE

FORMAT FS=NTFS

(Format process may take few seconds)

EXIT

Don’t close the command prompt as we need to execute one more command at the next step. Just minimize it.

5. Next insert your Windows7/Vista DVD into the optical drive and check the drive letter of the DVD drive. In this guide I will assume that your DVD drive letter is “D” and USB drive letter is “H” (open my computer to know about it).

6. Maximize the minimized Command Prompt in the 4th step.Type the following command now:

D:CD BOOT and hit enter.Where “D” is your DVD drive letter.

CD BOOT and hit enter to see the below message.

7. Type another command given below to update the USB drive with BOOTMGR compatible code.

BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 H:

Where “H” is your USB drive letter. Once you enter the above command you will see the below message.

8. Copy your Windows 7/Vista DVD contents to the USB flash drive.

9. Your USB drive is ready to boot and install Windows 7/Vista. Only thing you need to change the boot priority at the BIOS to USB from the HDD or CD ROM drive. I won’t explain it as it’s just the matter the changing the boot priority or enabling the USB boot option in the BIOS.

Note: If you are not able to boot after following this guide means you haven’t set the BIOS priority to USB. If you got any problem in following this guide feel free to ask questions by leaving comment.

1.How to Windows 7 Speed Up SYstem To get started, download and install SpeedUpMyPC 2009. The installation is very straight forward – you’ll mostly click “Next” a bunch of times. SpeedUpMyPC 2009 does require the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 to be installed on your PC, but install it for you if not already there.

2.If you did need to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, you’ll need to reboot before the installation can complete.

3.Once your PC restarts, depending on your PC/security settings, you may get a prompt asking if you want to run SpeedUpMyPC 2009 (the screenshot below is from XP, it will look slightly different if you’re using Vista). Click Run.

4.The installation will now complete. Make sure the Run Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC 2009 box is checked, and click the Finish button.

5.If there’s an update available, you’ll be prompted to download it. Click Yes.

6.In the bottom right corner of the main SpeedUpMyPC 2009 window, click the Install updates button. You’ll go through a similar installation as outlined in the previous few steps, but it will be faster.

7.Once the “second” installation has completed (assuming there was an update to install) – SpeedUpMyPC 2009 will begin to scan your system for possible optimizations.

8.It’s at this point where you can decide if you wish to purchase SpeedUpMyPC 2009 based on the results of the scan. As you can see in the screenshot below, SpeedUpMyPC 2009 found over 1500 files and optimization changes to make. Click the Register now button in the bottom left corner of the main window.

9.If you already have an activation key, enter it in the space provided and click the Activate now button. Otherwise, click the Purchase Online button.

10.With SpeedUpMyPC 2009 now activated, click the Optimize all button in the bottom right corner.

11.Depending on the programs you have open, you may be prompted to close some of them. Save anything you may be working on, and then click the Close all and continue button.

19.Now select the Recovery center tab from the left pane of the Optimization screen. From here you can undo or ‘recover’ any of the changes taht SpeedUpMyPC 2009 makes, should you choose to do so. This is another feature that makes me recommend this software – though generally unnecessary, the ability to revert back to previous settings is a fantastic safety feature.

20.Finally, select the Settings tab from the top. From here you can customize exactly how you want SpeedUpMyPC 2009 to behave. The options are very straight forward, and one that I would suggest disabling is Launch SpeedUpMyPC 2009 when Windows starts. Though SpeedUpMyPC 2009 is a great tool, it doesn’t need to be run every day. Once a week or so will suffice.

If you’re dying to try out Windows 7 but aren’t ready to give up your installation of XP or Vista, let’s take a look at how to dual boot Windows 7 with XP or Vista.

Step 0: Download the Windows 7 Beta and Burn It to a DVD

Assuming you’ve already downloaded a fresh copy of Windows 7, you’ll need to burn it to a DVD in order to do a fresh installation. To handle this task, grab a copy of the most popular CD and DVD burning tool ImgBurn, burn the ISO to a DVD, and move right along to step 1.

Step 1: Partition Your Hard Drive

Before you go installing Windows 7, the first thing you need to do is create a new partition on your hard drive to hold the new installation of Windows. Partitioning your hard drive will vary depending on whether you’re running XP or Vista—namely because Vista has a partition tool baked in, XP does not.

Partition Your Hard Drive in XP

To partition your hard drive in Windows XP, you’ll need to download some sort of third-party partitioning software. There are a lot of options available, but I prefer to stick with the previously mentioned GParted live CD, a free, open source boot CD that can handle all kinds of partitioning duties.

To use it, just download the GParted Live CD, burn it to a CD, then reboot your computer (booting from the disc). You’ll boot right into the partitioning tool. HowtoForge’s previous guide to modifying partitions with GParted is a great place to start, but it’s a fairly basic procedure:

Resize your current OS drive to free up enough space for a Windows 7 partition (the minimum system requirements ask for 16GB).
Create a new partition from the newly freed space.
Apply your changes.
Partition Your Hard Drive in Vista

The folks at Redmond were kind enough to include a disk partitioning tool in Vista if you know where to look. So go to Control Panel -> System and Maintainence (skip this one if you’re in Classic view) -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management. Once you launch the Computer Management tool, click on Disk Management under the Storage heading in the sidebar. It’s partitioning time.

Luckily we’ve already gone down this road before in step-by-step detail, complete with pictures, so check out our previous guide to creating a new partition in Vista. In a nutshell, you’ll need to shrink your current OS partition to free up at least 16GB of disk space (per the Windows 7 minimum system requirements), then create a “New Simple Volume” from the free space.

Step 2: Install Windows 7

Now that you’ve done all the heavy lifting, it’s time for the easy part: Installing Windows 7 on your new partition. So insert your Windows 7 disc and reboot your computer (you’ll need to have enabled booting from your DVD drive in your system BIOS, but most PCs will have this enabled by default).

Once the DVD boots up it’s a simple matter of following along with the fairly simple installation wizard. When you’re choosing installation type, be sure to select Custom (advanced) and choose the partition you set up above. (Be careful here. Choosing the wrong partition could mean wiping your other Windows installation altogether, so make sure you pick the new partition you just created.)

After you select the partition, go grab yourself a drink and let the installer do its work. Windows will run through some installation bits, restart a few times in the process. Eventually you’ll be prompted to set up your account, enter your license key, and set up Windows. Keep your eyes open for fun new Windows 7 features, like your new homegroup (and the accompanying password). When it’s finished, you’re up and rolling with your new Windows 7 installation.

Congratulations! You should now have a new entry for Windows 7 on your boot screen when you first start up your computer. You’ve now got all the tools necessary to dual-boot Windows 7 and XP or Vista—or even to triple-boot Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

1. Click “Start” and type regedit in the program implementation

5. Click Start, type cmd in administrative Privilige

Net stop uxsms

Net Start uxsms

Next Stop Start and Session Manager Desktop Window Manager.

7. Now you must try to activate Aero by right-clicking the desktop> Personalize -> Windows colors.

This registry hack to enable Aero in Windows 7 can also be used to install Windows 7 on a virtual machine like Virtual PC 2007, but that does not work in VMware Player, DirectX 9 or not the physical machine video units.
